top 5 challenge day 2 ; top five movies
1 ; THE HANDMAIDEN
a movie i've watched multiple times and always recommend to people, the handmaiden is one of my favorite gay oovies and it also doubles as an amazing thriller movie with beautiful cinematography. park chan wook really outdid himself with this one honestly. the twists are fantastic and i can't recommend the movie enough, but warning for the extremely nsfw scenes ! (the movie was based off an erotica book)
2 ; HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY
another movie i've watched over and over again, and one of the few sequels thats actually better than the original (though i love the original too). guillermo del toro adds an interesting flare to the universe of hellboy which isn't quite like the original comics, but still captivating in its own way. the costume design is beautiful, the villains are compelling, and theres so many hilarious moments.
3 ; ATTACK THE BLOCK
can you tell i love monster movies? anyways, theres not much to say here, all the characters are interesting and the dialogue is witty, theres never a dull moment, its just overall a great movie. p.s. john boyega is in it and i love him
4 ; RAW
possibly my favorite horror movie ever, its subtly creepy and has the perfect amount of gore and skin crawling moments. i will warn that this movie isn't for the faint of heart, it even makes me a little squeamish and i love gorey horror movies
5 ; SPIRITED AWAY
my favorite studio ghibli movie ! i always was jealous of chihiro and wished i could work in the bathhouse. its just such a beautiful movie with a fantastic soundtrack and i would 10/10 recommend it if you haven't watched it
